JustSophie Nails,  The Nail Journey

New Skills Academy | The Start Of The Nail Journey

As you may well now from my latest post (and if you don’t what are you playing at? Catch up here, jeez), I have decided to take up the art of nails as a new hobby. To paraphrase my last post, I have been getting a gel polish once a month for the past year from the amazing Clare at ‘Prize Nails‘. I am always amazed by how she can create something so beautiful yet so unique each time.

I want to be part of this beauty.

And so I have decided to complete a course as my main hobby to take up time when I just want a chill night in. I did a lot of research into the nail industry and the plenitude of training courses there are out there. I was recommended by my friend to check out Annabel from ‘Nails by Annabel‘. She is based in Newcastle and the nails she creates are amazing! She does have courses in nail training but unfortunately due to being out of my price range, I was not able to attend one. Don’t get me wrong, they are amazing courses and it does seem you definitely get a lot for your money but it just wasn’t for me. I am, however, going to attend one of her follow up courses in acrylic design one day. She is truly amazing.

Just to say, it wasn’t all a loss looking into Annabel as doing so I have discovered her incredible range of acrylic products and they are beautiful! I am definitely going to be a user of ‘Glitterbels‘ when training and in the future. They have insane reviews and the cost is decent. Well done Annabel.

And now onto the course I chose.

As i said, I did a lot of research into different courses and due to money and time, I have decided that for the time being I am best sticking to an online course to learn the basics and attend in-person courses once I feel a little more confident. I happened to come across an online course provider called ‘New Skills Academy‘. They have LOADS of courses available and the one which grabbed my eye was the Nail Technician Diploma. It seemed the provide everything I wanted and the price was very very reasonable too! What more could I want.

Nothing. The answer is nothing.

With a nervous heartbeat, I bought the course and hoped and wished it was what  I had anticipated. I need not worry at all! The course is all online and includes lectures, as well as diagrams and instructional videos. I am very impressed so far I must admit. The course is split into 25 sections and each section tells you how long they expect it to take you. However, you can always come back to any part needed as you have lifetime access. I am currently on section nine and I have learnt so much already. The images used are so informative and the instructional videos are essential to the course. I think with anything, you will get out of it what you put in. Boy, have I been putting my energy into this and I love it. I thought I would and I’m so glad that I am.

I would definitely recommend

New Skills Academy.

Soon, I will be ready to have a go at my first set of acrylic nails. Thank god I have a best friend who has acrylic nails as an essential in her life. She is a cutie and is allowing me to practice on her and trusting in me not to ruin her nails (sorry in advance Danni!). This has been an exciting experience so far and I can’t wait to keep sharing it with you. I have created a section under my new category ‘JustSophie Nails‘ where I can upload all of my nails and update to see my growth in nail art. Watch this space.
