If you have read my previous post to this one, then you will know that over the weekend I celebrated mine and Ginger’s one year anniversary. We love visiting new places and exploring new things to do and our anniversary was a reason to do something different. I gave Ginger the responsibility of deciding our plans for the Saturday and I’m so glad that I did. He definitely picked a good one. I think by the title of the post you can tell where we went.
We have both been to Flamingo Land before but it has been a while for both of us. We both love rides and we both love animals so, to be honest, we should really be living there not just visiting. Ginger managed to find a ‘2 for 1’ voucher online while finding us a postcode which was amazing seeing as tickets are £40 per person for one day entry. If you can find a time when these are released again, it is definitely worth printing a voucher off and using it, especially if you are visiting as a family. You can also buy a two-day pass for an extra £14 or buy tickets in advance. Take a look at their website here.
I was so excited.
We set off with the aim of arriving when the park opens at 10am and we made good time, arriving around half ten. There was a massive queue down the country road where Flamingo Land is situated. Whether that be due to it being a weekend in the Summer Holidays or whether it is like this normally, I do not know. However, it is worth considering this when planning your journey as it took us nearly half an hour to drive one mile down this road.
The park was so busy it was unreal.
I mean it’s our fault really for getting together in the Summer Holidays in the first place. We will always have the same problem every year no matter where we go to celebrate I reckon. What a day though!
We decided to try and get around the theme park first. Our plan was to have a go on everything. This was flawed from the start though. Each queue was an average of a one hour wait for the ride. Like Ginger said,
isn’t it strange how human beings willingly wait an hour to get on a ride that lasts two minutes at the most?
How fun are rides though, right?
We managed two rides before we decided we were too hungry to continue. So, onto finding some food. We found a fish and chip stall in the theme park section. Surprisingly, the prices were decent and we bought a large sausage and chips with a bottle of Pepsi for £5 – can’t really go wrong with that. Apart from us waiting half an hour for our food, it was delicious! We really enjoyed it and would recommend eating in the park as it is decently priced and all the food looks delicious.
We prepared ourselves for another hour in a queue before deciding to head for the animals.
I love animals.
The zoo is fairly big and they have some awesome animals to see. I think I was most excited for the hippos. Believe it or not, I have never seen a hippo in real life. And there it was! We got there at the right time as well. There were two hippos, both submerged in the lake, but then one walked out of the lake and onto land. It was MASSIVE! They are insane animals and it was incredible to see.
We managed to get round all of the zoo and another ride before it was time to leave. We were happy with how much we managed to get done in the one day we were there but we both agreed that Flamingo Land is maybe somewhere that needs a full weekend to fully enjoy. £54 for two full days is a decent price and I would definitely recommend spending an entire weekend there. The park is definitely doable in a day but you do feel rushed.
We had an amazing time at Flamingo Land to celebrate us being together for a whole year. What a tiring day though! We were both knackered and I was super jealous of Ginger being able to sleep on the drive home. Damn him for being the passenger!
Flamingo Land is a great day out!
